The Norwalk Municipal Court was established January 1, 1976. The Norwalk
Municipal Court has jurisdiction in all of Huron County, Ohio except for
Lyme and Sherman Townships and is a court of record.
Hours of Operation
The court is open Monday through Friday from 8:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is closed on weekends and legal holidays.
The Honorable John S. Ridge
Judge John S. Ridge has served as Judge
of the Norwalk Municipal Court since January 1, 1988. A life-long resident
of Norwalk, Ohio, Judge Ridge received his Bachelor Degree from Bowling
Green State University in 1976 and graduated from The Ohio State University
College of Law in 1979. Prior to being elected Judge, Judge Ridge served
as an assistant for the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office and was
an Assistant Law Director for the City of Norwalk. He also served as Assistant
Village Solicitor for Monroeville and Greenwich.
Clerk of Court
The Clerk of Court is Pamela G. Boss. Appointed by the Judge, the Clerk
is responsible for the maintenance of all records of the Court.
Kimberly A. Light is the Court Administrator and also serves as Bailiff
of the Court.
The Probation consists of an Adult Probation Officer and an Intensive
Supervision Probation Officer. The Probation Department’s mission
is to ensure timely compliance with the terms and conditions imposed by
the Judge on persons convicted of misdemeanor or traffic offenses, and,
if possible, to rehabilitate the offender.
There are nine full-time deputy clerks and two part-time deputy clerks
who take care of the traffic, criminal, civil and small claims divisions
of this court.
The Court has a bailiff who serves subpoenas and enforces evictions and
civil proceedings to collect debs such as levies and sales of personal
